I guess this was brought about by a few conversations I've been having with some people on the subject of learning a foreign language. I wanted to learn Navajo while I was in Michigan but I didn't have the time. So when I told Shook, his reply was simple and made a whole lot of sense. 'Why learn a new language when you don't know your own?'

And he is right! I figured with my mixed blood, I should know how to speak Malay, Arabic, Chinese and Portuguese. Out of that 4, it's only Portuguese that I never ever once attempted. So I just might learn it the very first chance I get. And best thing yet, I can practise with my relatives in West Malaysia.

And after that, I shall try my relatives' languages. Like Norwegian and Japanese and whatever they speak in South Africa and Morocco. I think it's French, isn't it? Then for commercial uses, there's always Spanish.
